Over three years of research has produced a complete history on the development, manufacturing, field trials and results of these bayonets.".   It is simply a matter over the years of surplus Krag bayonets without scabbards being mated with surplus picket pin holders without picket pins. The new definitive book on Krag bayonets by Donald Hartman has not a word about any type of leather scabbard for the bayonet.

I checked the stickies and searched the old posts and found reference to a Brophy book. Thanks for any help. I would like to add a US Krag to my small US Military rifle collection, but want to learn about them before venturing into the buyer mode. Thanks, John in Charlotte, NC.

It is realistic to obtain a nice Krag Bayonet and Scabbard for under $ This is probably best done at a decent Gun Show.

From my experience, Krag bayonets are a lot more common than the scabbards to hold them. Combining bayonet with rifle not only enhances the appearance of the ensemble, but more closely represents its use by the infantryman. Those This new book is a collector's guide that chronicles U.S.

Signed by the author. THE comprehensive work produced on U.S. Krag bayonets. Gents, I picked up a very nice Krag bayonet at the Leavenworth, Kansas Militaria Show over the weekend that I thought I would show.

It is a dated Krag bayonet that has the proper proud rivets in the unmolested wooden grips and the obverse grip has a stamped rack number on it. .
